BBQ Competition Judging School Coming to Huron

South-Dakota-BBQ-Championships-351x248Organizers of the Original South Dakota BBQ Championships will be hosting a Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) Certified BBQ Judging School on Saturday, April 25, at the Huron Country Club in Huron.

The class will train participants to grade world-class chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket.  All judging-school participants will be trained by KCBS representatives Dennis and Linda Polson from Lebo, Kan. Following completion of the class, participants will have earned their judging certification. As certified BBQ judges, individuals need only renew their KCBS memberships to remain in good standing.

Cost for the class is $60 for KCBS members and $95 for non-members. The non-member fee includes a one year KCBS membership.  Anyone interested in joining the KCBS can visit www.kcbs.us.

Certified BBQ judges are in high demand wherever there is a sanctioned contest. There are over 300 contests nationwide, many of them in the Midwest.  In South Dakota alone, judging opportunities are available at contests in Huron, Vermillion, Watertown, Hill City and Spearfish.

Registration forms are available at the Huron Chamber & Visitors’ Bureau, the State Fair office or online at www.sdbbqchampionships.com.

The Original SD BBQ Championships will be held on the SD State Fairgrounds June 5-6, 2015.  For more information, contact the Fair office at 800-529-0900, visit www.sdbbqchampionships.com  or find it on Facebook and Twitter.
