HRMC Honors Albright as Auxiliary Volunteer of the Year

Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) honored Auxiliary Volunteer of the Year Betty Albright as part of the annual Auxiliary Recognition Luncheon on May 19, 2015, in the HRMC Legacy Plaza auditorium.

Albright joined the HRMC Auxiliary in 2003 and has logged more than 1,000 volunteer hours as a Pink Lady. Albright serves weekly at the main hospital information desk and volunteers for other duties as needed.

Two Auxiliary Nursing Scholarships were also announced at the luncheon prepared by HRMC food service staff. Recipients of $750 scholarships were Desirae Van Zee and Shayna Frost.

HRMC Auxiliary copresidents Jackie Spillum and Renee Goldammer reported that volunteers donated 5,935 hours to the hospital during 2014 and recognized Auxiliary volunteers achieving service milestones with a commemorative pin and flowers.

  • Earldene Greenfield, 4,000 hours and 50-year member

Betty Freeman, Kay Van Fleet, Naoma Peterson, Shirley Schwartz, Alice Holm and Thelma Peterson, auxiliary members who passed away during 2014, were also honored in memoriam. Marcella Larsen, former president and longtime volunteer, was also remembered with a moment of silence.

David Dick, HRMC president and CEO, updated the group on activities happening at the hospital and thanked volunteers for their dedicated support.

The purpose of the Auxiliary is to promote and advance the welfare of HRMC by rendering service to patients and assisting with and contributing to charitable projects. As members of the Auxiliary, Pink Ladies volunteer daily, providing refreshments and assistance in hospital lounges, assisting visitors with hospital and patient information at the information desks and delivering floral arrangements to patients.
