In celebration of moms, Huron Regional Medical Center is offering free roses and osteoporosis screenings to women who schedule a screening mammogram between April 25 and May 6.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women, second to lung cancer. Early detection increases the chance of survival. If you are age 40 or older, visit the American Cancer Society’s website at www.cancer.org or talk to your healthcare provider for mammogram screening recommendations.
To encourage women to learn their risk for breast cancer, HRMC is offering a free pink rose to women who call to schedule a screening mammogram between April 25 and May 6. The actual mammogram appointment can occur between April 25 and October 31, 2016.
HRMC’s digital mammography uses safe, low doses of X-rays to image the inside of breasts and computer-aided detection (CAD) provides a “second read” of the mammogram by a computer to assist the radiologist in making an accurate diagnosis. HRMC’s digital mammography system is fast, yet ultra-sensitive, and generally only takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
For more information or to schedule a mammogram, call 353-6246. Information about digital mammography at HRMC is available online at www.huronregional.org/services/radiology-imaging/digital-mammography.
