Area Students Invited to HRMC Health Career Academy June 7

Huron Regional Medical Center is hosting a day-long health career academy for area high school students who are considering a career in health care on Tuesday, June 7.

Lab-SheilaThe Health Careers Exploration Academy is a full-day experience that provides an excellent opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to explore different careers in health care under the guidance of healthcare professionals.

Students will spend time in a variety of hospital departments observing and learning about the different career opportunities available at HRMC. In addition to a tour of HRMC, students will engage in hands-on activities in the following career areas:

  • Laboratory

  • Nursing

  • Radiology

  • Physical, occupational and speech therapy

  • Medical coding

  • Surgery

  • Dietetics

  • Respiratory therapy

Students will also learn information about new scholarship offerings, available through the HRMC Foundation Fund for the Future, which provide financial assistance for a variety of high-need health careers to students who are willing to return to work in the Huron area.

The academy is free and open to high school students from the region with a nomination from a high school guidance counselor. Space is limited, so interested students should apply soon.
